We started the community meal in October, 2003 serving around 50 people with pinto beans, mac & cheese, slaw and cornbread and now we are in our 7th year. We started with seed money of $1200.00 (which we still have) and have never had to ask the church to finance any of our meals. This is a faith based ministry and God has always provided. We are now serving between 800 - 850 per meal. God makes sure that we have enough help each meal and enough food so that no one has ever gone away hungry. We now have four other churches involved on alternate Saturdays which was a huge answer to prayer. Now the Landrum area is provided with a free meal every Saturday of the month. Also out of this ministry the Bread Ministry has evolved as well as the Gift In Kind ministry. God has opened many doors and continues to direct in new ways to minister to our area. This ministry has been a true blessing for us and we praise the Lord for this opportunity to serve Him.
