Landrum United Methodist Church is involved in many community outreach activities throughout the year. Three outreach ministries are detailed in sub-tabs of this page - Back Packs Ministries, the Community Meal, and our Bread Ministry. Please peruse these pages for a complete understanding of what we are involved in.
In support of the Community Meal and our Salkehatchie Summer Mission trip, LUMC is a member of the Gifts In Kind program of the United Way of the Piedmont. Gifts In Kind is a partnership between Walmart, Excel Logistics, and United Way to distribute products that can not be sold commercially to non-profit organizations which will then distribute these products to those in need. LUMC has been accepted to participate in this program which allows us to "shop" for 30 minutes at most once per week. The pickup load above is the result of one shopping trip. Items that we distribute include, but not limited to Toilet Tissue, Paper Towels, Kleenex, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, diapers, baby bottles, pacifiers, blankets, ........ We also will take window curtains, cleaning supplies, tools, paint brushes, ....... to Salkehatchie.
We also have a food pantry and distribute food boxes to those in need that stop by the LUMC office. We stock the pantry from several sources including local donations, District 1 food drives, and other local food drives.
LUMC participates in Operation Magi at Christmas time and support Operation Hope throughout the year.
